LOCAL DESIGNERS | TO THE NINES

"To The Nines Clothing represents everything that is Vancouver street style—a combination of skate, surf, and snow all wrapped up in a punk/hip hop attitude. From their beginnings three years ago in a garage using a homemade screening set to their appearance at the Gossip Fall 08 Fashion event, co-founders Owen Covert and Nikolai Hobruecker have brought a fresh, bold sensibility to the graphics featured on"

NEW JAY Z SINGLE | RUN THIS TOWN

Run this town blog post part 2! So here's the video.

BACK AGAIN SEGA?

"Video gamers have this thing about retro games, and more often than not, they don’t mind going back to the good old days once in a while and indulge in a little bit of nostalgia, where pixelated graphics ruled the day and the gameplay experience coupled with an overactive imagination proved to work better than just flashy graphics. For those who missed out on Sega’s heydays as a home console manufacturer, here’s the Sega Mega Drive Twin Player Console that allows you to go through a bunch of 16-bit classics."

SHABOOYA! Maybe now I can forgive my mother for putting our Sega in a garage sale all those years ago..

MY TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS

Today after I finished eating the grilled cheese sandwich I had made I felt dissatisfied and I was thinking about how badly I would have preferred to sink my teeth into a fried bologna sandwich. - then the thought occured to me: I should blog about fried bologna sandwiches! Eureka! Only second to the wheel on my list of the greatest inventions of all time, fried bologna sandwiches are a perfect blend of bread, bologna, and mustard.

So, inspired, I search "fried bologna sandwich" on google images and within .18 seconds I'm looking at 19-36 of about 169,000 pictures. After a little bit of browsing, (I had to find a picture that would do the sandwich justice), I find one and it is possibly better looking than the ones my mom used to make for me. I click the image but to my surprise and ensuing disappointment I notice the picture is from a wordpress blog! What the hell? Someone has already blogged about fried bologna sandwiches and it's written better and in more depth than I would have been able to...

Anyhow, here's my latest blogpost albeit it's not an original.

I like fried bologna sandwiches.

FALLING WHISTLES | WAR IN CONGO

During the past 10 years, roughly 6 million people have died, and nearly 1,500 people continue to lose their lives daily.

..Bet you didn't know that. Neither did I, but that's the point of these whistles.

Sean Carasso uses his whistles for a worthy cause. After visiting the war-torn Democratic Republic of the Congo, he returned home and started Falling Whistles: a campaign for Peace in Congo.

"Buy the whistle and the proceeds go to support and advocate for war-affected kids. Wear the whistle, share the story, and speak up for them. Together, we'll become the voice of a growing coalition to end our world's biggest war."

LOCAL ARTIST | MEGHANN MCGRATH

Meghann Mcgrath is an artist that I have been a fan of since I first got a look at some of her work. She demonstrates a wide range of creative talents and I'm not sure what plans this 17 year old has for the future, but I strongly hope she continues with her work because it's ever so beautiful!

My favourite was the caption below this last self portrait:

"better self

all these paintings are studies.
im completely a.d.d. with paintings. i go for 20 mins. and get bored...thus incomplete studies lol
annnd move on to the next one
thus a closet full of studies.

this one is called "an incomplete self"
some conceptual art bullshit about how we arent complete ourselves..an excuse to not finish a painting again really"
